Surrey Run 2024: All the runs happing in surrey.

  1. 2024 RunSurreyRun Event Info!

Event Date: Sunday, September 8, 2024

Running and walking are among the most popular activities in the world today. Consumer research reveals that improving fitness, losing weight and staying in shape are the most common reasons for engagement followed by relieving stress and having fun. Like all physical activity, regular walks and runs can improve cardiovascular function and reduce body fat, as well as improve the mental health of adherents to these exercise regimes.

As a 5K/10K Walk/Run our event is destined to become an annual celebratory occasion for residents of Surrey -although the global pandemic has played havoc with the scheduling and resulted in the postponement of the inaugural race. In 2021 the event was held as a virtual one as per the outline covered in Race Etiquette.  On September 11, 2022, RunSurreyRun launched the first in-person and second virtual event with great success!

2024 will see its third in-person road race starting at Holland Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM. Virtual Race will be held September 4-8, 2024.

Our current road race places more emphasis on fun and exercise than it does on competition. It is open to novice and experienced walkers and runners and all levels of endurance in between as well as participants of all ages and athletic ability. It will be a clean and green event and our mandate is to consider how we can promote the event for the greater good of the people of Surrey and the many endeavours of its broad charitable community.

3. The Kids Running Course

Kids Physio Group and The Running Physio have teamed up to create the world’s first course directed specifically on how to work with kids on the skill of running. Together, both instructors from the pediatric and running worlds will teach you all about typical running development from infancy to teenagerhood, provide you with running and biomechanical assessment strategies, and explore the special considerations for performance running in pediatrics.

This course is designed for physiotherapists or other practitioners who work with young to teenaged children seeking assessment, consultation, or practical strategies directed at addressing developmental running concerns, treating running-related injuries, and improving running performance. Through online modules and 2 comprehensive in-person days,, you will become familiar with the Three Cornerstones Framework used to simplify your assessment of a patient with a running-related concern, learn how running is a motor milestone throughout a typical child’s development, become confident in conducting simple-to-complex pediatric gait analyses, and learn basic principles for consultation of performance running patients and their families.

This course uses theoretical lecture knowledge, functional assessment and gait analysis, case studies, and lecture summaries. A “Patient Pathway Map” is used to structure this course and to provide you with an overview of suggested management strategies depending on your patient’s goals.

Practitioners who enjoy running will appreciate the tools and techniques provided for working with running-specific problems, and pediatric physios will benefit from being able to connect how early motor milestones can affect running patterns and gait. Generalized physiotherapists can arm themselves with knowledge from both the pediatric and running realms to supercharge their assessment and treatment techniques when working with the young adult active population.
